I was a KISS fan as a small child, collected the memorabilia as a teenager, sold most of that collection when they reunited and have now been collecting again for over 7 years. Throughout that time, quality vintage t-shirts have been some of the hardest items to come by. I still have a couple of vintage shirts that I kept from my first collection. Even in the eBay age, authentic 70s and 80s KISS shirts in acceptable condition are rare.
The KISS 10th Anniversary Tour is notable for a few reasons: it was their first U.S. tour of the 1980s, their last tour wearing makeup until 1996 and one of the shortest tours to date. Several shows were canceled due to low ticket sales, and event merch from this tour is tough to come by.
The double-sided jersey style shirt from this tour was my second purchase from WyCo Vintage. Finding a KISS tour shirt from 82-83 in the shape that I received mine in still seems unreal. Not one hole. The only damage to speak of was minimal, and I mean MINIMAL: slight fade of the screen print and wear-and-tear on the tag.
Yeah, they’re pricey, but you get what you pay for. I’m sure there are some people that buy these shirts to wear. The quality of everything that I’ve seen from them thus far is that good, so… if wearing $250-$300 shirts is your thing, have at it. If you’re a collector, though, you’ll love this site.
